TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's soccer team is excited to announce the commitment of defender Manvir Athwal to the 2025-26 recruiting class.

A native of Caledon, Ont. Athwal brings a wealth of experience from across Southern Ontario's competitive soccer scene. He began his competitive career in 2020 with Brampton Soccer Club before moving to the Rush Canada Soccer Academy in Oakville, Ont., where he developed from 2021 to 2023. Most recently, Athwal has been competing with the North Toronto Nitros, a semi-professional team in League1 Ontario.  

Athwal also had an impressive high school career at Humberview Secondary School. He captained the team, helped them secure a regional championship and earned academic honour roll recognition.

Known for his coachability and positive attitude, Athwal looks forward to joining an established Bold squad filled with familiar faces. Having played alongside many current and incoming Bold players with the Nitros, he looks forward to continuing to build on-field chemistry, describing the transition to TMU as "just natural."

Off the pitch, Athwal will be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at TMU, a new chapter in his athletic and academic career. 

Athwal is the ninth recruit in TMU's 2025-26 recruiting class, a group that continues to strengthen with promising new additions.
