Scholarships are essential for Toronto Metropolitan University to attract and retain top student-athletes. Student-athletes need financial support so they can achieve their ambitions in the three areas of excellence: athletics, academics and community service.
Funding for scholarships makes this possible by allowing promising young adults to dedicate their energy toward becoming the best students, athletes and citizens they can be.
Donors who create awards, bursaries or scholarships have a direct impact on the lives of students. Athletic Awards, which are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and athletic excellence, allow student-athletes to focus and excel in their studies and training without the worry of how to afford education and sports-related expenses.
The cost of living in Toronto is high and climbing steadily. The estimated average annual expense for an undergraduate student – taking into account tuition, books, accommodation, transportation and food – is approximately $30,000. And for a graduate or international student, these expenses are even higher.
You can establish an award in your own name or in honour of a family member, colleague, friend or organization. Named awards and bursaries can be made as annual gifts or endowments. Endowment awards are a stable and secure way to support students for years to come.
