Homecoming is an annual campus-wide event that brings together new and current students, staff, faculty and TMU alumni to celebrate the spirit of TMU, the return to campus and the start of a new school year. It’s an annual varsity sports game hosted every September by the TMU Bold and the Department of Athletics & Recreation. The event features the TMU Bold men’s or women’s hockey team facing off in an exhibition match against a rotating slate of opponents, typically one of the teams’ closest rivals.
Though TMU doesn’t have a football team, our Homecoming game is hosted in what many have dubbed the centre of the hockey universe: the Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC), formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens. You can read about the history of the Gardens here.
With a capacity of 2,750, Homecoming at the MAC has become an annual tradition where TMU students pack the stands to cheer on the Bold as they kick off a new season. Students can expect to enjoy an elite hockey game marked by high intensity on-ice action, a full slate of in-game entertainment and prizes, and a chance to show off their school spirit.
TMU students have come out in full force to support this event year after year. Homecoming has grown to be more than just an exhibition hockey game – it’s become the biggest and most exciting campus event of the year.
