3. Where can I get TMU Bold gear?

  • All gear is available at the MAC store on the 2nd floor. This includes a variety of t-shirts, sweatshirts, scarves, caps and touques.

4. Can I still wear my Rams gear to attend varsity events and games?

  • Yes! We love to see the stands filled with blue and gold.

5. Is it okay for me to still call the university ‘Ryerson’ and the team ‘Rams’?

  • We understand that it takes time to adjust to the name change. While you are free to refer to your own time at ‘Ryerson’ or as a ‘ram’, our current teams should be called the TMU Bold.

6. Why did we rename the varsity program to TMU Bold?

  • With the renaming of the university, the department decided to start fresh with a new identity that connects directly to our aims and vision as a program and institution. Through an extensive community consultation process, it was decided to rename the varsity program to Bold. Learn more about the renaming decision and process

7. Why did we choose a falcon as the new mascot?

  • Based on community feedback, we chose the falcon as a new mascot which has local significance, a level of sophistication, and something that would connect to the team name. In addition to being one of the fastest animals on the planet, falcons are known for their power, strength, versatility and endurance. They embody what it means to be bold, much like our student-athletes.

8. What happened to Eggy?

  • Eggy the Ram was an important part of the department’s history. In the 1960s the ram was chosen because it aligned with Egerton Ryerson’s zodiac sign, and the mascot was named “Eggy.” In the 1990s, the live ram was replaced by the exclusive use of a mascot costume. In 2021, the Standing Strong Task Force recommended that the university reconsider the mascot due to Eggy’s association with Egerton Ryerson.
