TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's soccer team is happy to announce the commitment of midfielder Nico Barros to the 2025-26 recruiting class.
The Toronto-based talent brings a strong playing resume. Since 2019, Barros has competed with the North Toronto Nitros, playing in both League1 and League2 Ontario, gaining valuable semi-professional experience. During his time with the Nitros, he earned League2 Ontario All-Star recognition and was named a First Touch Football MVP. Barros also made a strong impact at the high school level, playing for St. Basil the Great College from 2023 to 2024. His standout performances earned him the title of Male Athlete of the Year.
Additionally, Barros has also gained national and international experience. He was a part of the 2023 Ontario Provincial Team and most recently, got recruited to play at Lincoln Trail College in the United States, where he spent the 2024-25 season.
The focused and competitive athlete is ready to return to the pitch in Toronto as part of a strong OUA program. Having previously played alongside several current and incoming Bold players, Barros brings valuable on-field chemistry to the roster. He will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), noting that TMU was a perfect match for him to be a student athlete.
Barros becomes the eighth recruit of the Bold's 2025-26 recruiting class, a group that continues to build in depth and promise for the upcoming OUA season.
