BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) announced on Tuesday that Ryerson Rams women's hockey head coach, Lisa Haley, is the organization's new Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations.
Haley will maintain her coaching position at Ryerson while serving the professional organization.
Haley's responsibilities with the NWHL will include facilitating the annual player draft, scheduling, player development, managing and establishing key partnerships, plus overseeing and building of the league's relationships with national governing bodies and collegiate hockey programs.
In the NWHL's 2020-21 season, Haley served as an assistant coach with the Toronto Six organization and helped lead the team to the league's best regular season record.
"My career with the NWHL is very young, however, this season as a member of the Toronto Six coaching staff my eyes were opened to the potential of this league," said Haley in a press release from the NWHL. "I am very grateful to continue my involvement and highly motivated to be part of the future of a viable professional women's hockey league. It's inspiring to work with such a strong leadership group of women across the NWHL."
"The entire NWHL stands to benefit from (Haley's) influence as we move toward our seventh season and the continued growth of the league and women's hockey," said NWHL Commissioner, Tyler Tumminia in a press release.
Haley has been the head coach of the Ryerson Rams since its inaugural season in 2011-12 and is proud to continue to lead the Rams while pursuing the NWHL position.
"I am so grateful for the support that Ryerson provides to me when opportunities like this arise," said Haley. "My players, staff, and Athletics leadership have been unbelievable to me throughout this journey. It's such a privilege to represent our Ramily on a larger platform like this. Our university believes in the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion and I am fortunate to be in a position to champion those beliefs through my new role with the NWHL."
