TORONTO—The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team is excited to welcome high-IQ point guard Nathaniel Savage to its 2026-27 roster. Savage joins the Bold following his 2025-26 season with Humber Polytechnic, where he helped the Hawks capture the 2025-26 OCAA championship.
Savage began his collegiate career playing in the NJCAA with Howard College during the 2024-25 season. Serving as a redshirt, he didn't hit the court but excelled academically, earning both Academic All-American recognition and President's List honours.
After overcoming a knee injury, Savage returned to the court with the Humber Hawks for the second half of their 2025-26 season. The skilled shooter and composed floor leader made an immediate impact, posting an impressive 29-point performance in his debut on Feb. 21, 2026, against Fleming College.
In his four appearances with the Hawks, Savage averaged 16.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and went on to help Humber secure the program's 17th provincial title.
The Etobicoke, Ont. native joins the Bold with familiarity, having played with guards
Gabriel Gutsmore and
Kevin Toth. Coming to study sociology at TMU, Savage said the program's culture of togetherness and competitive drive played a major role in his decision. He described TMU as a place where the coaches and teammates are committed to not only helping players improve on the court but also grow as individuals off it.
Savage becomes the second commitment in the Bold's 2026-27 recruiting class, a program that continues to strengthen an already competitive OUA roster with key offseason additions.
