TORONTO - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team is pleased to announce NCAA transfer Jahcobi Neath as the first member of their recruiting class ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Neath spent his first two years of university at Wake Forest, before moving to play for Wisconsin for the past two seasons. A former Canadian Junior national team member, Neath returns home to the city of Toronto to suit up with the Bold.
"He's a former Biosteel All-Canadian Game MVP and dunk contest champion, a former Canadian Junior national team member, and an MVP at Crestwood Preparatory. That alone earns him instant credibility in our locker room and respect from our opponents," said Bold assistant coach,
Jeremie Kayeye.
In his first season with Wisconsin in 2021-22, Neath and the Badgers won the B1G 10 regular season championship, something he notes as the highlight of his career thus far.
"Jahcobi will have an immediate impact on our team, as he is not only talented but is a leader and a hard worker. He's determined on finishing his career as a winner at TMU, so he's coming in with the right mindset," added Kayeye.
A self-described dynamic, two-way player, Neath has a history with teammate
David Walker as the two grew up playing together at Falstaff community centre in Toronto. The 6-3 guard is coming off a season of playing just three games due to injury, and is looking forward to getting back to his full potential.
"I chose TMU because I believe that the staff has all of the resources I need to achieve my goals of getting healthy, winning a national championship, and playing professional basketball at the next level," said Neath.
The newest member of the Bold will be enrolled in the Professional Communication program this fall.
"It's really important to have a Division I player commit to us as it indicates that you can achieve your academic and athletic goals while attending Toronto Metropolitan University," added Kayeye.
Neath will kick off his career in the blue and gold later this fall and stands as the first addition to the Bold's roster.
