Rams look for much needed points against Voyageurs this weekend

TORONTO - The Rams women's soccer team, still in the hunt for a playoff spot, will be taking on the Laurentian Voyageurs in back-to-back games this weekend.

The blue and gold, currently sitting fourth in the Central division with seven points, place right above the Voyageurs with four points after six games played. 

The Rams are coming off a four point weekend against the Algoma Thunderbirds, where they saw a 2-1 victory and a 1-1 draw, coming from behind in both games. 

The Voyageurs, on the other hand, are coming off back-to-back losses against the Toronto Varsity Blues where they conceded eight goals over the weekend and scored just one. 

Despite the tough weekend, Laurentien has not only defeated the Thunderbirds as well this season, but drew with first place McMaster, handing the Marauders their only non-victory so far this campaign.

The Voyageurs will likely look to create through third-year midfielder Amanda Cuthbert, who has scored two out of Laurentian's three goals this season. 

On the Rams side, the team has had five different goal scorers this season, with attacking chances being created by midfielder Christiana Daniel and recent Rams Star of the Week and midfielder, Ivymae Perez.

The Rams should also beware of Laurentien's home field history, with both of their positive results being played in Sudbury, Ont. this season.

With just four games left this campaign and the final two being played against a red-hot Marauders team, the Rams will likely need two wins this weekend to keep their playoff hopes alive. 

Kickoff time on Friday is 5:00 p.m from LU Soccer Fields, before the Rams return home for a rematch at Downsview Park on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
