Rams look to continue dominant run against Gryphons, Thunderbirds on the road

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's basketball team is looking to continue their impressive form as they take on the Guelph Gryphons and the Algoma Thunderbirds this week.

With the Rams coming off a dominant week after defeating the McMaster Marauders and the Brock Badgers quite convincingly, they will be on the road to face two teams with records under .500. The Rams have not played a team with a losing record since January 18th, and in the meantime, have been dominating teams that do not get pushed around very often.

Ryerson's first game of the week will be in Guelph to take on the 7-11 Gryphons on Wednesday night. The Gryphons, who have not beaten the Rams since 2016, are coming into Wednesday's affair on a two-game losing streak but are still very much in a playoff race in their OUA division.

The Gryphons main scorers include junior guard Malcolm Glanville who scores 16.2 points per game and senior guard Thomas Yanchus who scores 15.8 points per game.

On Sunday, the Rams will head to Sault Ste. Marie to take on the 2-16 Algoma Thunderbirds. In preparation for the playoffs, the Rams will likely showcase their squad depth and significantly decrease their starters' minutes.

Coming into this week, the Rams have been firing on all cylinders with a multitude of players having big scoring performances.

A player that has caught the eye of many supporters as of late is freshman guard Mouhamed Ndiaye (Longueuil, Que.), who has been a crucial two-way player off the bench for the Rams all season but has recently caught fire offensively. Ndiaye has been red-hot from three especially, shooting 10-for-24 from beyond the arc in his last three games. This past weekend, Ndiaye had 20 and 18 point games, which was enough for a nomination for Ryerson's Stars of the Week.

The Rams have also been running their offence well through the three-headed monster that is Tanor Ngom (Dakar, Senegal), Jayden Frederick (Scarborough, Ont.) and Tevaun Kokko (Markham, Ont.). Ngom has been consistently putting up double-doubles, along with both Frederick and Kokko who often get in the 20 point range.

This 12-6 Ryerson team will be looking for nothing less than two dominant performances coming out of this week.

Wednesday night's game will be at 8:00 p.m. from Guelph, and Sunday's opening tip will be at 3 p.m. Both games will be available on OUA.tv.
