TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's soccer team will be back on home soil this weekend as they host both Ottawa schools at Downsview Park. The Rams will face the Carleton Ravens this Saturday followed by the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday.
With two more weekends left in the season and Ryerson sitting in fifth place in the OUA East, this four-game stretch can possibly end their season or springboard momentum going into the playoffs. With only seven points separating the division's third and seventh place team, top-six playoff contention is still very much up for grabs for many teams.
Saturday's opponent, the Carleton Ravens, has only secured one win and scored six goals so far this season. The Rams will look to capitalize and expect a crucial three points coming out of that matchup, especially since the following day will be the Rams' biggest test so far this season.
Sunday's opponent, the Ottawa Gee-Gees, is currently the No. 1 ranked team in the nation and has not yet lost a game this season. The Gee-Gees are led by the country's top scorer and U SPORTS Female Athlete of the Month, Mikayla Morton.
Rams veteran goalkeeper
Elisa Lapadula (Brampton, Ont.) will look to organize her defensive unit and shut-out both the Ravens and the high-flying Gee-Gees offence. On offence, Rams forward
Brooke Pearson (Pickering, Ont.) is the team's top scorer with five and will look to add to her tally against the Ottawa squads.
The Rams will face these two teams the following weekend as well, so solid performances against these squads will carry on to the next weekend's games.
The Rams will play at 1 p.m ET both Saturday and Sunday at Downsview Park.
