TORONTO - On Wednesday the Rams head up to North Bay for their first postseason match against the Nipissing Lakers.
The tail end of Ryerson's season was tough, including two matches against the top seeded Ottawa Gee-Gees. In their last match of the regular season, the Rams played stifling defence, quarterbacked by steady keeper
Elisa Lapadula (Brampton, Ont.). They limited Ottawa to just one goal and forced their attackers offside throughout.
The Lakers handed the Rams a 2-1 loss on October 5th in their only meeting this season.
Katie Joyce (Petty Harbour, Nfld.) supplied the lone goal for Ryerson.
At the end of the regular season campaign,
Brooke Pearson (Pickering, Ont.) led the Rams with five goals, followed by Joyce and
Alex Rodkin (Whitby, Ont.) with a pair.
Finishing at 5-6-3, Ryerson has not found the win column since October 12th. They have still shown signs of excellent play, and will look to combine their sound defence and explosive goal-scoring throughout these playoffs.
The Lakers finished with an 8-6 record. Ryerson will have to contain both Ashley Mlinaric and Madison Logan, who have combined for 15 goals for Nipissing.
This is the fifth time in program history the Rams have qualified for the postseason but they are still searching for their first playoff victory. The team hopes to achieve that on Wednesday to advance to a quarter-final on October 27th.
Kick-off in North Bay is set for 6:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday night and will be available to stream on OUA.tv
