TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams are off to Ottawa this weekend to face the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees in a rematch of this past weekend's games. The Rams beat the Ravens 1-0 on Saturday but fell 5-0 to the Gee-Gees on Senior Day, Sunday afternoon.
The Rams came away with a crucial win on Saturday against the then 1-7-3 Ravens. The Rams' only goal came late in the game, in the 79th minute by second-year defender
Kaleigh McKye (Toronto), her first of the season and her career. The Rams dominated possession for most of the game but could not capitalize on their chances, something they will have to do on Saturday if they want to secure the win and get extra points in the playoff race.
Ryerson's worst loss of the season came on Sunday against the No. 1 Gee-Gees. Undefeated for a reason, the Gee-Gees proved their dominance on the pitch, shutting down the Rams, and finding the back of the net on multiple occasions. No. 1 nationally in scoring, Mikayla Morton added two goals. A win against Ottawa on their turf would be huge not only in points but in the confidence it can bring the Rams heading into the postseason.
The Rams currently sit tied for fifth place in the OUA East division with 17 points. With Ontario Tech looming behind them, tied in points, the Rams offence will need to be strong and consistent in getting goals and securing their spot in the OUA playoffs.
The Rams face the Ravens at MNP Park on Saturday at 1:00 pm ET and then close their regular season at Matt Anthony Field against the Gee-Gees on Sunday, also at 1:00 pm ET.
