Rams head north for pair of weekend games

TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams women's soccer team is heading north this weekend for back-to-back games. On Saturday they will face the Nipissing Lakers in North Bay before heading over to Sudbury to face the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday.

The Rams are coming off of a tense 1-1 draw against the Toronto Varsity Blues. A scrappy game which led to both goals was not the game plan for the Rams coming into Downsview Park last Saturday. Now they hit the road looking to regain their win streak.

First on the docket is Nipissing who lead the Rams by two points in the OUA standings. They are coming off a 4-2 home win against the RMC Paladins. The last four matchups between the Rams and the Lakers have all ended in low-scoring draws, with the last win being in 2016 in favour of Ryerson. The Rams will look to not only end this tie streak, but to add to their wins, keeping them above .500.

They will face a challenge though in shutting down Lakers' first year forward Madison Logan who has made an impact early on in the season, scoring five goals in eight games.

Next up will be Laurentian who is coming off a 4-0 loss against the Queen's Gaels, giving them a 2-4-2 record and ending their two-game win streak. The Rams will look to capitalize on the Voyageurs rocky start to the season and get the win. In their last matchup in 2018, Ryerson took a 3-0 win with two of the goals being scored by defender Katherine Sollbach (Burlington, Ont.) and midfielder Chloe Zomparelli (Richmond Hill, Ont.). Keeper Elisa Lapadula (Brampton, Ont.) will look to get a clean sheet once again.

The Rams play at 12:00 pm ET both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's games against Nipissing will be available on OUA.tv
