Rams fall to nationally ranked Gee-Gees

OTTAWA - The Rams visited the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday, October 7th, and fell 4-0.

The Ottawa Gee-Gees took the lead in the latter part of the first half. Mikayla Morton (Courtice, Ont.) found the opening goal from Delaney Rickert-Hall (Waterloo, Ont).

The Gee-Gees continued the pressure in the Rams end during the 36th minute, and Emma Lefebvre (Kingston, Ont.) scored. The Rams were down 2-0 heading into halftime.

The Rams tried to ensure that the Gee-Gees would not extend their lead in the second half by increasing their defensive strategies.

However, Katherine Bearne (Halifax, N.S.) extended the Gee-Gees lead to 3-0 with help from Sophie Curtis (Ottawa, Ont.).

With six minutes left in the game Morton earned her second goal of the game to bring Ottawa's total to four.

Rams goalie Elisa Lapadula (Brampton, Ont.) made five strong saves throughout the game, stopping a number of breakaways and shots.

In total, Ottawa made 19 shots in comparison to Ryerson's three.

Overall, Ryerson fought hard, but could not get the right bounces throughout the game. Ottawa was able to control the play whenever they were in Ryerson's end, and was confident with their home field advantage.

The Rams are looking to come back next Saturday when they take on the University of Toronto at Downsview Park. for their annual Think Pink game. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for updates.
