Rams on wrong side of 2-1 game against Ravens

OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens had a goal in each half of the match on Saturday, giving them the win and a much needed three points over the Rams.

It looked like it was going to be a long day for the Rams early in the game, with the Ravens all over them in the first five minutes. But, Ryerson weathered the storm escaping with no damage being done.

Ryerson and Carleton then began trading chances. The best chance of the half came at the thirty-minute mark when a Carleton forward was taken down in the box giving the Ravens a penalty kick. Ghalia Hammada stepped up to the spot and buried the penalty, giving the Ravens a 1-0 lead.

When half time hit it was still 1-0 but Ryerson didn't let that last for much longer. Christiana Daniel found herself making a play with the ball and fooling the goalie, tying the game at 1-1 and giving Ryerson the momentum.

But just as fast as Ryerson was to get a goal out of the half, Carleton responded within minutes to the Rams goal reclaiming their lead. This time it was for good.

The Rams offence has struggled to get goals this year, however, today it wasn't for a lack of trying. The Rams found themselves getting a number of chances in the latter part of the second half and just couldn't break through.

The Rams fought hard in battling the Ravens today; they'll need to bring that same energy to the field Sunday afternoon when they take on the top seeded Ottawa Gee-Gees.
