Bold collect one win in six-game weekend series against top division contenders

TMU Bold Fall To Queen's Gaels After Surrendering Big Fourth Inning


The Queen's Gaels scored seven runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat the TMU Bold 8-0 on Friday.

Kiyah Hurry stepped in the circle first for the Bold. The starting pitcher surrendered nine hits and eight runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking one.

Sabrina Jada went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead TMU in hits.

Queen's were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.

TMU Bold Triumph Over Queen's Fastpitch In Late-Game Victory


The TMU Bold snatched the lead late in their 7-6 victory over Queen's on Friday. The Bold were down 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Sabrina Jada doubled, scoring three runs.

The Bold came back to win despite trailing 5-0 in the fourth.

TMU flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 7-6 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Jada after a 7-pitch at-bat that drove in three.

Kaitlyn LeBoutillier stepped in the circle first for TMU. She allowed six hits and five runs (two earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking six. Meghan Petruk appeared in relief for TMU.

Abigail Stuart led the Bold with three hits in four at bats. Jada drove the middle of the lineup, leading TMU with three runs batted in. She went 1-for-3 on the day. Erin Jones led TMU with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing four walks for the game.

Big Second Inning Leads Ottawa Gee-Gees Softball Past TMU Bold


The Ottawa Gee-Gees defeated the TMU Bold 12-1 on Saturday thanks in part to seven runs in the second inning. 

The Bold scored one run in the bottom of the first on a solo home run to left field by Jayden Lawson.

Ottawa then scored seven runs on two hits in the top of the second inning. 

Meghan Petruk began the game pitching for TMU. She allowed three hits and 12 runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking four.

Lawson led TMU with two hits in two at bats.

The Gee-Gees didn't commit a single error in the field.

Bats Stymied For Both Teams As TMU Bold Loses To Ottawa Gee-Gees Softball


Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but the Ottawa Gee-Gees were just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-0 victory over TMU. 

Kiyah Hurry started in the circle for the Bold. She surrendered three hits and three runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking one. 

Emily Bancroft and Madeline Gillis each collected one hit for TMU.

The Gee-Gees turned one double play in the game.

September 24, 2023 - Game 1
Toronto 9, TMU 2

TMU Bold Play Tough Game Against Varsity Blues


The TMU Bold couldn't keep up with the Toronto Varsity Blues and fell 9-2 on Sunday.

An error put Toronto on the board in the top of the second.

A single by Tessa Di Matteo then gave the Bold the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the second.

The Varsity Blues took the lead back, 5-2, in the top of the third thanks to two singles.

Meghan Petruk stepped in the circle first for the Bold. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and nine runs (eight earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking four.

Kaylee Xaykongsa, Tessa Di Matteo, and Kiyah Hurry each collected two hits for TMU. Di Matteo went 2-for-3 at the plate as the leadoff hitter and led the team with two runs batted in.

TMU 8, Toronto 14

TMU Bold's Mid-Game Lead Thwarted By Varsity Blues


The TMU Bold had trouble keeping up with the Varsity Blues in a 14-8 loss on Sunday.

TMU got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jayden Lawson tripled, the Varsity Blues committed an error, and Emily Bancroft singled, each scoring one run.

The Varsity Blues tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single and an error.

A double gave Toronto the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the second, then the Varsity Blues added three runs in the third after a triple. 

TMU flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on two hits to take an 8-7 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Sabrina Jada that drove in three.

The Varsity Blues jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after an error by TMU, a double, and a ground out each scored one run.

Kiyah Hurry stepped in the circle first for TMU. She allowed 12 hits and 14 runs (nine earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. Kaitlyn LeBoutillier came in as a relief pitcher. 

TMU Bold's Maddie Scime made the most of her chances at the plate. The number nine hitter led the team with two hits in three at bats. Jada provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led TMU with three runs batted in. She went 1-for-3 on the day. TMU had patience at the plate, collecting five walks for the game.

Next up for the Bold is a rematch with Queen's on Saturday, before the Bold host York on Sunday.
