Bold pick up one win on road trip against Ottawa, Carleton

September 15, 2023 - Game 1

TMU Bold Cannot Hold Onto Lead Against Ottawa Gee-Gees


The TMU Bold lost to the Ottawa Gee-Gees 16-13 on Friday even though they once led by eight runs. The Bold collected eight hits and Ottawa had 15 in the high-scoring affair.

The Bold jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Tessa Di Matteo drew a walk, scoring one run, Kiyah Hurry grounded out, scoring one run, Jayden Lawson was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored two runs, and an error scored three runs.

Ottawa flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring eight runs on five hits to take a 16-13 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single on an 0-2 count that drove in two.

Hurry led things off in the circle for TMU. The starting pitcher gave up 12 hits and 11 runs (10 earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking four. 

Madeline Gillis and Breanna Morrow were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for TMU. Lawson, Gillis, and Morrow each drove in two runs for the Bold. Erin Jones paced TMU with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.

TMU turned two double plays in the game.

Ottawa tallied 15 hits in the game. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.

TMU Bold Lose Tough Game Against Gee-Gees


The TMU Bold had trouble keeping up with the Ottawa Gee-Gees in an 8-1 loss on Friday.

TMU opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run.


The Gee-Gees captured the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third with a single and a double each scoring one run.

Breanna Morrow led things off in the circle for TMU. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking one. 

J. Hartley pitched for Ottawa, surrendering five hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking one.

Sabrina Jada, Kaylee Xaykongsa, Jayden Lawson, Abigail Stuart, and Kiyah Hurry each collected one hit for TMU. Lawson led the Bold with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day.

Jayden Lawson Puts On Strong Contact Performance As TMU Bold Take The Win Over Carleton


Jayden Lawson collected three hits in four at bats, as TMU defeated Carleton 7-2 on Saturday's game one. Lawson tripled in the fifth inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

TMU got on the board in the second inning after Kaylee Xaykongsa tripled, scoring one run.

The Bold scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Abigail Stuart hit a fielder's choice, scoring one run, Lawson tripled, scoring two runs, Maddie Scime singled, scoring one run, and Xaykongsa lined out, scoring one run.

Kiyah Hurry began the game for TMU. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none. Carleton allowed eight hits and seven runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking two.

TMU turned one double play in the game.

September 16, 2023 - Game 2
Score: Carleton 6, TMU 0

TMU Bold Loses Despite Out Hitting Carleton


The TMU Bold fell 6-0 to Carleton on Saturday despite out-hitting them eight to seven.

Carleton got on the board in the first inning after a single scored one run.

Carleton added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after TMU committed an error, followed by two ground outs each scoring one run.

Kaitlyn Leboutillier led things off in the circle for TMU Bold. She surrendered five hits and five runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one.

Carleton allowed eight hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking none.

Carleton had patience at the plate, amassing four walks for the game. They stole three bases.

The Bold return to action with a trio of opponents next weekend, starting with a doubleheader at Queen's in Kingston on Friday night.
