Bold softball leads OUS east division after opening weekend with 3-1 record

Walk-Off Seals The Deal In TMU Bold Victory Over Brock Badgers

It came down to the wire on Saturday, as TMU Bold grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-6, over the Brock Badgers. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Emily Bancroft singled, scoring one run.

The Badgers were the first to get on the board in the second when a single scored one run.

Jayden Lawson hit a sacrifice fly, which helped the Bold tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

Brock took the lead in the top of the third with a solo home run.

Kiyah Hurry singled, which helped TMU Bold tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the fifth, TMU broke up the tie when an error scored one run. A single by Hurry followed to extend the lead to 4-2.

Brock tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to an error, and a triple by Miller.

In the top of the eighth, Brock broke up the tie with a double, scoring one run. Then a single followed to extend the lead to 6-4.

The Bold took the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the eighth thanks to singles by Lawson, and Bancroft.

Hurry pitched for TMU. She allowed 10 hits and five runs (three earned) over eight innings, striking out six and walking one. 

Sabrina Jada, Hurry, Madeline Gillis, and Lawson each collected two hits for TMU. Lawson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Bold with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day.

Caitlin Tomotsugu A Difficult Out As TMU Bold Defeat Brock Badgers

Caitlin Tomotsugu collected three hits in three at bats, as TMU defeated Brock 9-1 in Saturday's second game. Tomotsugu doubled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.

TMU won thanks in part to five runs in the third inning.  Emily Bancroft doubled, scoring two runs, Lilly Clements singled, scoring one run, Tessa Di Matteo grounded out, scoring one run, and Tomotsugu singled, scoring one run.

The Bold opened the scoring in the first after Sabrina Jada singled, scoring one run.

An error, and a double by Tomotsugu helped TMU extend their early lead in the second.

Breanna Morrow held strong at the mound for the Bold. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking two. 

Abigail Stuart collected two hits for TMU in three at bats, stealing two bases. The Bold collectively stole five bases in the game. 

The Bold held a strong defence, not committing a single error. The Bold turned one double play in the game. Bancroft had the most chances in the field with six.

TMU Bold fall to McMaster Marauders 13-9 on Sunday Morning

McMaster got on the board in the top of the first inning and maintained a consistent lead against the TMU Bold.

Kaitlyn LeBoutillier pitched five innings in relief for TMU. She surrendered seven hits and six runs (four earned) while striking out three and walking three. Breanna Morrow began the game for TMU. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and seven runs (six earned) over two innings. 

Kiyah Hurry and Jayden Lawson each collected two hits for TMU. Lawson drove the middle of the lineup, leading TMU with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. The Bold turned one double play in the game.

September 10, 2023 - Game 2

Score: TMU 11, McMaster 3

Third-Inning Spurt Lead TMU Bold Past McMaster Marauders


The TMU Bold defeated McMaster 11-3 in Sunday's second game thanks in part to eight runs in the third inning.  Maddie Gillis singled, scoring one run, Bianca Perry singled, scoring one run, Tessa Di Matteo singled, scoring two runs, Kiyah Hurry hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, and Jayden Lawson singled, scoring one run.

The Bold were the first to get on the board in the first when Sabrina Jada tripled, scoring one run.

An error extended the TMU Bold lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning.

Hurry commanded the circle for TMU. She allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking two. 

The Bold tallied 14 hits in the game. Caitlin Tomotsugu went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead TMU in hits. Hurry led TMU with three runs batted in, going 2-for-4. Jada and Gillis each collected multiple hits for TMU Bold.

Up next for the Bold is a trip to Ottawa to take on the Gee-Gees on September 15 followed by the Carleton Ravens on September 16.
