Bold drop pair of games to Queen's, split with York

Bold Make A Run Against Queen's But Fall Short


TMU Bold's effort to come back from down five runs in the fourth inning came up just short, as they fell 8-6 to the Queen's Gaels on Saturday. TMU closed the gap by scoring on a single, a double, a single, and a double.

Queen's got on the board in the first inning after a single scored two runs. They added two runs in the second by scoring on another single.

Kiyah Hurry started in the circle for TMU. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and five runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking one. 

Caitlin Tomotsugu and Kaitlyn Leboutillier each collected two hits for the Bold, with each hit driving in two runs.

Bold Come Up Short Against Queen's In Game Two


TMU could not keep pace with Queen's in a 9-5 game on Saturday.

Queen's got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after a sacrifice fly scored one run, a single scored two runs, and another single scored one run. They added one run in the third, making it 5-1.

Breanna Morrow stepped in the circle first for TMU. She gave up 11 hits and nine runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking two. 

Sabrina Jada provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Bold with two runs batted in. She went 2-for-4 on the day. Jada, Jayden Lawson, and Kiyah Hurry each collected two hits for TMU.

York 7, TMU 0

York Lions Take Down TMU Bold A Little At A Time


York built their lead a few runs at a time in a 7-0 victory over TMU on Sunday morning.

York were the first to get on the board in the first when a single scored one run. They added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after a single and a ground out both scored one run.

Breanna Morrow started the game for TMU. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three. York surrendered three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out two and walking none.

Kaitlyn Leboutillier, Abigail Stuart, and Kiyah Hurry each collected one hit for the Bold.

York ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game. They were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.

October 1, 2023 - Game 2
TMU 7, York 5

Bold Hold Off Lions For Sunday Afternoon Victory


Despite seeing their five-run lead whittled down by the end, the TMU Bold still held off for a 7-5 victory on Sunday afternoon. 

York scored three runs on an error in the seventh inning.

A single put York on the board in the bottom of the first.

Kaitlyn Leboutillier grounded out, which helped TMU tie the game at one in the top of the second.

The Bold took the lead in the top of the third inning after Caitlin Tomotsugu tripled, and York committed an error, each scoring one run.

Jayden Lawson hit a solo inside the park home run in the top of the fifth for the Bold.

York scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on an inside the park home run.

Kiyah Hurry began the game for TMU. The starting pitcher surrendered 12 hits and five runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. TMU turned one double play in the game. 

Lawson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Bold with three runs batted in. She went 2-for-4 on the day. Hurry went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead TMU in hits. Lawson stole two bases while the Bold stole five total bases in the game.

Next up for the team is their final doubleheader of the regular season on Friday evening when they face the Toronto Varsity Blues.
