Striker Ameer Kinani bolsters Bold offence

TORONTO - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) men's soccer program is excited to announce the commitment of Ameer Kinani to the team for this upcoming 2022-23 season, the seventh player in this year's recruiting class.

The striker hailing from Toronto, Ont. spent one season at George Brown College before transferring to TMU for this season. He netted seven goals in eight games for the Huskies last season.

Kinani spent the summer playing in League 1 with Prostars FC where he scored 17 goals in 20 regular season matches to rank fourth among all scorers.

"I have a very competitive mindset and always strive to win," said the newest member of the Bold. "I am very committed to my sport...and am always looking to improve."

Kinani's impressive resume doesn't stop at his time in Ontario. He was selected to play on the Iraqi national U19 team where he played in the U19 Asia Cup, something he notes as one of the highlights of his soccer career. Kinani also spent time in Spain, playing for Cartagena FC from 2020-2021 which he credits for helping him grow as a player.

"I chose TMU because I think it is a great university and I think it could help me improve my academics," said Kinani. "I also think the playing style of (the Bold) really suits the way I play."

The newest member of the Bold will be enrolled in the Arts & Contemporary Studies program.

Catch the Bold kickoff their season on September 15 against Ontario Tech in Oshawa, or September 18 against Trent at home at Downsview Park.
