Week two sees plenty of rain outs, sweep by York

TMU Bold Stays Competitive, Bested By York University Lions

Even though the TMU Bold and York Lions both had their opportunities, it was York that eventually prevailed 9-8 on Friday. The game was tied at eight with the Lions batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for York.

Despite the loss, TMU did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, York had 11 hits on the way to victory.

The Lions opened up the scoring in the first inning when an error scored one run.

The Bold notched four runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to doubles by Caitlin Tomotsugu and Madeline Gillis and a single by Madison MacKenzie.

Rakiyah Hurry was in the pitcher's circle for TMU. Hurry went six innings, allowing nine runs on 11 hits, striking out six and walking one.

Gillis went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead TMU Bold in hits.

TMU Bold Nearly Misses Win in Nine-Inning Tie-Breaker

In a tough two-and-a-half-hour second battle against York, the TMU Bold ultimately fell in the 9th inning to break the tie 14-13.

Games against the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees were postponed and are to be rescheduled.
