Bold softball close opening weekend with 0-4 record

Game 1: TMU Bold 2, Windsor Lancers 7
Late Score Costs TMU Bold Against Windsor Lancers

The TMU Bold stayed in it until the end, but Windsor pulled away late in a 7-2 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at one with Windsor batting in the bottom of the fifth when Rylie Straus tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Windsor Lancers tied things up at one.

Rakiyah Hurry surrendered seven runs on 12 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Caitlin Tomotsugu went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead TMU in hits.

Game 2: Windsor Lancers 12, TMU Bold 9
TMU Bold Falls to Windsor After Sixth Inning Score

TMU lost the lead late in a 12-9 defeat to Windsor on Saturday. The game was tied at six with the Lancers batting in the top of the sixth when Rylie Straus doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, the Bold did collect 16 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Windsor had 16 hits on the way to victory.

TMU captured the lead in the second inning when they scored three runs when Sabrina Jada hit a home run.

In the top of the fifth inning, Windsor tied things up at six.

TMU put up four runs in the second inning. Madeline Gillis and Jada each drove in runs during the inning.

Windsor scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Windsor came thanks to Holland-Penny, an error on a ball put in play by Reign Gibson, and a double by #16.

Brooklyn Nash toed the rubber for the Bold. The bulldog surrendered six runs on nine hits over five innings, walking one. Kiyah Hurry threw two innings out of the bullpen.

TMU launched one home run on the day courtesy of Jada in the second inning.

TMU tallied 16 hits on the day. Gillis, Emily Bancroft, Jada, and Sydney Leggatt each collected multiple hits for the Bold. Jada, Bancroft, and Gillis each managed three hits to lead TMU.

Game 3: Western Mustangs 7, TMU Bold 0
Bold Struggles to Find Groove Against Western Mustangs

TMU struggled to get their offence going on Sunday, getting dispatched by the Western Mustangs, 7-0.

One bright spot for TMU was a single by Kiyah Hurry in the second inning.

Aimee Leduc led things off in the pitcher's circle for Western. The ace allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Hurry started the game for TMU. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing 12 hits and seven runs while walking zero.

Hurry and Rachel Aversa both had one hit to lead TMU.

Game 4: TMU Bold 2, Western Mustangs 9
TMU Falls to Western Mustangs After Fourth Inning Score

TMU stayed in it until the end, but Western pulled away late in a 9-2 victory on Sunday. The game was tied at one with Western batting in the top of the fourth when the Mustangs scored one run on a stolen base.

The Bold struggled to contain the high-powered offence of Western, giving up nine runs.

TMU knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the third inning when Sydney Leggatt grounded out, scoring one run.

Daniela Fava was on the rubber for the Bold. Fava allowed 12 hits and eight runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking zero. Brooklyn Nash threw one-third of an inning in relief.

Madison MacKenzie and Maddie Scime each collected one hit to lead the Bold.
