Rams open sixth season with 1-3 record

Rams fastpitch kicked off their first season of play in two years under new coaching leadership this past weekend, finding their groove as a team.

Carleton Ravens 8 - Rams 3

Rams fastpitch watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-3 loss to the Carleton Ravens on Saturday. After giving up a run in the first inning on an error, the Rams came back to put pressure on the Ravens, led by a single by Madeline Gillis and an error on a ball put in play by Quinn Danniels. Abigail Stuart led the Rams on offence with two hits in four at-bats. Zoe Delorme was in the pitcher's circle for the Rams, striking out nine and walking one. Daniela Fava threw two innings in relief.

Rams 4 - Carleton Ravens 2

The Rams took the second game of their doubleheader series by a score of 4-2 against the Carleton Ravens on Saturday.

The Rams got things started in the first inning, scoring one run on an RBI by Madeline Gillis. The remaining three runs were scored in the fourth inning on a home run by Caitlin Tomotsugu. Tomotsugu and Delorme all had multiple hits, with Tomotsugu going 3-for-4 at the plate. Zoe Delorme pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out four.

Ottawa Gee-Gees 14 - Rams 5

The Rams lost the lead late in a 14-5 defeat to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday.  The game was tied at five with Ottawa batting in the top of the fourth when an error scored two runs for the Gee-Gees.

Ottawa got things moving in the first inning, while the Rams evened things up at five in the bottom of the third inning. A three-run rally in the second inning was led by a single by Tomotsugu and a double by Quinn Danniels. Madison MacKenzie, Danniels, and Tomotsugu each collected multiple hits for Rams fastpitch.

Zoe Delorme started the game off in the circle until Daniela Fava and Allegra Romaniello entered the game from the bullpen, throwing four innings and one-third of an inning, respectively.

Ottawa Gee-Gees 7 - Rams 0

After a tough initial game against Ottawa and down a couple of players, the Rams lost a tough battle 7-0 in the second game against the Gee-Gees on Sunday.

Allegra Romaniello made her first full Rams game debut with one strikeout and zero walks. Ottawa pitcher Jordan Hartley surrendered zero runs on zero hits over five innings, striking out six.

The Rams look to get back in the win column on Saturday, September 25 when they host the York Lions at Hendon Park starting at 2:00 p.m.
