Rams fastpitch upsets top division team's undefeated record

TORONTO - The Rams split their doubleheader against Toronto on Saturday, while a rainout forced no games to be played on Sunday.

Rams 6 - Toronto 5

Despite seeing its five-run lead whittled down by the end, Rams Fastpitch still held off the Toronto Varsity Blues for a 6-5 victory on Saturday.

An early lead helped propel Rams fastpitch to victory. The Rams scored on a double by Madeline Gillis and a single by Rachel Aversa in the first inning. Another run was added to their total on a walk by Madison MacKenzie in the second inning.

Zoe Delorme took the win on the rubber for the Rams, allowing 12 hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out 11.

Rams fastpitch racked up ten hits in the game. Delorme, Aversa, and Gillis each collected multiple hits, Delorme going 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. The Rams didn't commit a single error in the field.

Toronto 7 - Rams 0

Rams fastpitch fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-0 loss to the Varsity Blues on Saturday. Toronto's high-powered offence with their formidable defence allowed no hits for the Rams.

Daniela Fava was in the circle for Rams fastpitch. The pitcher surrendered seven runs on nine hits over four and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Sunday's game at Ottawa will be rescheduled due to rainout.
