OTTAWA - The Ryerson fastpitch team had a very successful weekend trip to Ottawa, earning three wins and one loss.
On Saturday, Ryerson lost a close match in the first game to the University of Ottawa, 2-1.Â
Zoe Delorme pitched a complete game and took the loss. However, the Rams came back and won the second game against Ottawa, 6-4. Delorme took the victory in relief, with four innings, giving up one run.
On Sunday, the Rams faced Carleton University and took the first game 7-0 behind the stellar pitching of Delorme, who pitched five shutout innings, giving up only three hits. Delorme and Marianna Fox had multiple hits to spark the offence.
Unfortunately in the second game, the Rams fell behind 8-0 after the first inning but clawed back and eventually won 11-10 with a walkoff single by
Olivia Stelmachowicz, which drove in the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs.
Emma Carr with four hits and
Caitlin Tomotsugu with four runs led the offence. Once again, Delorme took the victory in relief holding Carleton to two runs over six innings.
The Rams are now 7-5 and tied for first place in the OIWFA East Division. Ryerson will face the 7-5 Queen's University, next week, for first place.
