TORONTO — They're not usually known for their comeback abilities, but the Ryerson Rams put on a show in the second half of tonight's game against the York Lions and eventually earned a 71-54 victory on the road.

Leading the charge for the Rams was none other than Ryerson's leading scorer, Jama Bin-Edward (Waterloo, Ont.), who recorded her first career double-double in the win with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rams trailed through much of the first and the second quarter, falling victim to York's strong three-point shooters. The Lions would go 5-9 from beyond the arc in the first half, and the Rams paled in comparison with just two three-pointers made on seven attempts.

The Lions, boasting a 6-6 record on the year, headed into the halftime with a 40-37 lead over the no. 3 Rams.

The start of the third quarter marked a shift in execution for the Rams' defensive efforts. Holding the Lions to just eight points in the quarter, Ryerson would pull away with a 59-48 lead after 30.

The fourth quarter mirrored the third, as the Rams continued to hinder York's scoring abilities. The Rams heavily outscored the Lions for the second straight quarter — this time it was 12-6 for the Rams — and eventually took a 71-54 victory in the game.

Ryerson seniors Sofia Paska (Etobicoke, Ont.) and Hayley Robertson (Toronto, Ont.) each recorded 13 points on the night. Sophomore guard Leyki Sorra (Toronto, Ont.) was perfect from beyond the arc (2-2), while fifth-year senior Cara Tiemens (Newmarket, Ont.) went 2-for-3.

On the other side of the matchup, Lions fifth-year guards Haley Bowie (Ancaster, Ont.) and Chante Clarke (Toronto, Ont.) each had 10 points.
