TORONTO—On June 1, 2026, Sephora Canada launched its "Pretty Badass" campaign, featuring several faces from the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball program.

Myriam Kone and
Hailey Franco DeRyck were pictured, alongside assistant coach and former player
Jama Bin-Edward. Bold alumni Tiya Misir and Devisha Binns also made appearances.
"As a TMU student-athlete, representing university sport on a national platform was a huge honour," said Kone. "Student-athletes work incredibly hard to balance academics, training, competition, and personal growth, and I'm proud to help showcase that dedication."
The campaign marks Sephora Canada's new chapter as the founding and official beauty partner of the Toronto Tempo. Bold athletes appeared alongside Toronto Tempo players Marina Mabrey, Kiki Rice, Nyara Sabally, Isabelle Harrison, Temi Fágbénlé, head coach Sandy Brondello, and other influential women in the Canadian sports community. TMU has existing ties with the Tempo through former head coach Carly Clarke, who now serves as an assistant coach with the new Canadian WNBA franchise.
The campaign aims to celebrate an inclusive vision of beauty and belonging, recognizing that women cannot be defined by any one label.
"I think being part of Sephora's Pretty Badass campaign was really empowering because it celebrated the idea that strength and femininity can coexist," said Kone. "As a basketball player, a lot of people only see the athlete side of me, but this campaign highlighted that there's so much more to who we are."
Kone hopes the campaign will help challenge outdated stereotypes surrounding female athletes and ignite change.
"For a long time, female athletes have been made to feel like they have to choose between being strong competitors and embracing their femininity, when in reality the two go hand in hand," said Kone. Basketball has taught me confidence, resilience, and self-belief, and those qualities extend far beyond the court."
