BURLINGTON, Ont. — Two members of the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's soccer team have earned conference recognition following standout seasons.
Taylor Fazzari was named OUA East rookie of the year, while
Natalie Moynihan received OUA East second-team all-star honours for the second consecutive year, the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced Oct. 29.
Fazzari becomes the fourth player in TMU women's soccer history to win the OUA East rookie of the year award, joining Tessa Dimitrakopoulos (2006), Andrea Raso (2007) and Victoria Watson (2017). The forward from Aurora, Ont., led all OUA rookies in scoring with seven goals, the highest total on the team. She scored in three straight matches from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6 and stood out against nationally ranked University of Toronto, recording three goals in two games, including a brace in TMU's 3-2 upset win at Varsity Stadium on Sept. 19.
Moynihan, from Orangeville, Ont., earned her second straight OUA East second-team all-star selection after another strong season anchoring the Bold midfield. She took the majority of TMU's free kicks and was a steady presence in both central midfield and defensive roles. Moynihan scored three goals this season, including in back-to-back matches to open the year, and becomes just the third player in program history to be named to an all-star team in consecutive seasons, alongside Dimitrakopoulos (2006-08) and Raso (2007-11).
