Bold Complete Weekend Sweep with 71-52 Victory Over the Thunderwolves

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The No. 10 ranked Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball team won against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday 71-52 to finish their double-header weekend with two wins.

Jayme Foreman delivered a strong performance, contributing 19 points to lead the Bold to their win.

The game opened with a back-and-forth pace, both teams battling for an early advantage. Continuing their strong shooting from last night, the Bold looked good from beyond the arc. Hayley Fedick and Foreman knocked down multiple key threes, each accumulating seven points in the first half.

The Thunderwolves bested the Bold offensively in the first quarter, taking the lead 20-17.

The second quarter continued to be tight. Hoping to find their groove, the Bold began to hone their ball movement. Hailey Franco-DeRyck took advantage of second chance points, boxing out under the rim as she had six rebounds in the first half.

The Bold crept ahead at the end of the first half, 33-28.

The Thunderwolves snuck up on the Bold once again in the third quarter, fighting to minimize the gap.

With key moments such as Kaillie Hall's interception layup and Foreman's steady shooting, the Bold held their lead, 47-43 after the third quarter.

The pieces began to fall together for the Bold in the fourth quarter. With efforts from the whole team, the Bold were able to go on an offensive run.

Alex Pino scored back-to-back threes to extend the Bold's lead and Franco-DeRyck played key defense while driving towards the net. They both finished the game with 10 points.

Hall ended with 16 points, drawing fouls to get to the free-throw line.

TMU secured the win finishing the game with a 19 point difference, 71-52.

The Bold will continue on the road next weekend making their way to Kingston, Ont. to face the Queen's Gaels.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Athletics and Recreation Centre. Support the Bold from afar by tuning into all the live action on OUA.tv.
