OSHAWA, Ont. – The No. 8 ranked Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's soccer team faced off against the No. 7 Ontario Tech University Ridgebacks at Vaso's Field on Sunday afternoon. The intense match ended in a tied game, 2-2.
The Bold came out strong at the start of the first half.
Chris Campoli recorded a header goal assisted by
Perry Zorbas to secure the lead early.
The Ridgebacks pushed hard to tie up the game with seven shots in the first half, but goalkeeper
Dante Ferraro put his all into protecting the net, and prevented the Ridgebacks from besting him in the opening frame.
The Ridgebacks attacked the net aggressively in the second half with numerous shooting opportunities. Despite Ferraro's efforts between the pipes, the Ridgebacks tied up the game in the 59th minute.
In an exciting series of events at the end of the second half,
Jevontae Layne scored in the 84th minute to give the Bold a 2-1 lead. The Ridgebacks quickly responded with a goal in the 86th minute, tying the game, 2-2.
The Bold will look to fight for a win next week when they face off against the leaders of the OUA East, the Carleton University Ravens, in Ottawa on Sunday, September 22nd at 3:30 p.m. Watch the contest on
