Bold Fuel Hot Streak With Win Over Trent

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's soccer team made easy work of the Trent Excalibur on Friday, using a first-half goal to grab a trio of points and continue their momentous start to 2024.

The win propels TMU into a tie for the second spot in the OUA East and marks the team's third victory in four games amidst the program's hottest start to a season in years.

Despite what the narrow scoreline might suggest, the Bold dominated their contest with Trent on both sides of the ball and used their strong play in the midfield to dictate the pace of play through 90 minutes of action.

Third-year forward Aalayah Lully capitalized on a loose rebound in Trent's 18-yard box to put the Bold out in front of the Peterborough side in the 18th minute.

Lully's goal marked the second time she has found the scoresheet on the road this season, having clinched the eventual winner for the Bold in their historic victory over the Varsity Blues last Friday.

The lonesome tally proved to be all the Bold needed to separate themselves from Trent in their second meeting of the season, with the Excalibur unable to find a way past TMU's goalkeeper Abby Harrison.

Her initial clean sheet of the season drops the Excalibur to 1-4 on the season and completes the Bold's season sweep of Trent without a blemish.

With the wind bulked heavily in their sails, the Bold head to Oshawa for a date with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. and can be viewed on OUA.tv.
