TORONTO – Former College of the Holy Cross forward Callie Wright is returning home. After a four-year career in the United States, the Markham native is back in Toronto for her final year of university basketball. Wright began her career at the University of Memphis following her graduation from Bill Crothers Secondary.
During her junior career, Wright played four seasons with Team Ontario, winning two national championships and earning All-Canadian honors three times. She initially joined the University of Memphis Tigers but transferred after her sophomore season. At Holy Cross, she helped lead the Crusaders to two Patriot League Conference Championships, each earning an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. In the first round, Wright and the Crusaders faced the Caitlin Clark-led Iowa Hawkeyes, ultimately falling 91-65. In that game, Wright recorded one point and seven rebounds.
Wright has several connections to the Bold. Her brother Landon is a recruit in the 2024 cycle, signing with the men's basketball team. Additionally, she has played with several current members of the team and has a longstanding relationship with head coach Carly Clarke.
"I wanted to be close to home and play my last year with my brother. Joining Coach Carly's team was always a part of my plan. I'm excited to learn from her and bring new perspectives to the team," Wright said.
The Bold will aim to rebound from their OUA semifinal loss last season, and Wright's winning experience will be a significant asset. The 2024-25 season begins on October 25th against Nipissing, with the home opener set for November 2nd against Algoma.
