Women’s basketball add first recruit in 2024 cycle with Magdalena Vukojev

Head coach Carly Clarke and the TMU Bold women's basketball team made their first foray into the 2024 recruiting cycle by announcing the commitment of SG/SF Magdalena Vukojev out of Blessed Trinity Catholic SS in Grimsby, Ontario.

Vukojev captured several honours throughout her high school career, most notably the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association League MVP while serving as captain for Blessed Trinity. Vukojev also won back-to-back city championships with her high school, an accomplishment she considers the highlight of her athletic career.

"I am determined, I have a grind and competition that I love to chase and I challenge myself to
become better as an athlete," said Vukojev when asked to describe herself as a competitor. "I am versatile and well-rounded. I can play multiple positions and like to play creatively and aggressively, especially defensively and in the paint."

"Her grit and versatility will be great additions to our team on the court, while her positive energy and commitment to being a great student-athlete will also positively impact the campus and local community," said head coach Carly Clarke.

The Serbian-Canadian Vukojev has experience playing with and against her new Bold teammates. She previously trained with Corrynn Parker and played against Hailey Franco-DeRyck in the Junior Elite League (JUEL).

When discussing her reasons behind choosing the blue and gold, Vukojev made clear the importance of her relationships with both the staff and her new teammates.

"I chose TMU because it immediately fit, I have visited other schools, met other coaches, and
other teams, and been in different cities and TMU just clicked. The relationships between the team and coaches were genuine and it was the place I wanted to be. TMU felt like
a place where I could grind and grow academically, athletically, and as a person."

Vukojev and the Bold will look to build off their OUA semifinal finish last season when a new season of TMU women's basketball tips off on October 25th against Nipissing.
