OTTAWA - Fourth-year fencer Ethan Haines won the OUA silver medal in the foil weapon at this year's OUA fencing championship this past weekend, while the Bold finished fourth overall in the team standings.

Haines went 5-0 in pool play then 4-1 in the seeding round to enter the championship round as the fifth seed. He made it all the way to the title bout before falling 15-10 in the final. 

Also in the foil weapon, Omer Ghazali finished in ninth place, while Maxime Shlayer finished 24th and Eamon Boiley finished 38th. The foursome competed together in the relay and finished in sixth place.

In the epee weapon, Alexander Androsyuk was the Bold top finisher in sixth position. Alexander Zwegers finished 15th, Robert Kozin finished 19th, and William Radonicich-Ord came 34th. As a unit, the relay team nearly medaled but finished in fourth position.

In the sabre competition, Jafer Kamoonpuri and Aditya Venkatesh finished back-to-back in 12th and 13th place, respectively, while Narayan Bhandari placed 26th and Niraj Karki came in 36th place. In the team relay, the four members came in sixth place.

The team earned 149 total points at the competition, good for a fourth place result.
