TORONTO - Fourth-year fencer
Erika Dominguez won the OUA gold medal in the foil weapon at this year's OUA fencing championship this past weekend.
Dominguez went undefeated through the championship to win her second career gold medal, returning to the top of the podium after earning silver at last year's championship. Her performance also earned her OUA all-star status.
Three other TMU fencers gained experience at their first championship, with
Veronica Demciuch placing 27th,
Aida Heidari placing 32nd, and
Nevena Buzanin placing 41st, all in the epee weapon.
The team earned points from Dominguez's top showing, and finished 12th overall at the competition.
The men's fencing team will look to find their own success coming up March 16-17 in Ottawa.
