Stevens records 15 points in fourth quarter to cap off monster win over Voyageurs

The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball squad laid a beatdown on the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday to close out their perfect weekend, besting the Sudbury side by 32 points to favorably take the contest 100-58.

Dominance on both sides of the ball led the Bold to hitting the century mark in points on Saturday with half a dozen of TMU's scorers touching double-digit in points.

Fourth-year Adrian Stevens capped off TMU's monster victory with a career-high 15 points - all of which coming in a ten minute span throughout the fourth quarter - to help keep the Voyageurs well out of reach.

David Walker chipped in 14 points to help guide the Bold over the line, while Julian Walker tacked on an additional 12 points to go along with a 3-3 performance from beyond the arc.

Cameron Ramage, Gabriel Gutsmore and Aaron Rhooms each wrapped up Saturday's blowout win with 11 points. Rhooms finished just a rebound shy of a second-straight double-double performance and has been lights out since returning from the winter break in January.

Both Rhooms and Stevens expressed their elated emotions on the state of the team following their second blowout victory of the weekend.

"We're really fired up and ready to take on anybody right now. I think we can beat anybody in the country," said Stevens just minutes after his memorable performance in the fourth quarter.

"I just try my best to keep my head down and stay hungry. I went out here and tried to play as hard as I could," added Stevens.

The Bold began distancing themselves from the Voyageurs in the early stages of the second frame, shoveling a 9-0 run on top of their four point lead coming out of the opening quarter.

Laurentian's two leading scorers Kamil Dia Hantchi and Caillou Lacroix failed to stand in the way of the Bold as the home side began constructing their lead in the second quarter. The two combined for just a pair of baskets throughout the second frame to further drill the Voyageurs into a downward spiral.

The Bold outscored the Voyageurs 63-11 in bench points to flex their depth for a second night in a row and pull away from their opposition in a hurry.

With a pair of 30+ point wins now in their back pocket, the Bold are entering a pivotal stretch of games with a season-high confidence and an abundance of energy.

"To be the man you gotta beat the man. That is our weekend to see where we are at," said Head Coach of the Bold David DeAveiro following the win.

The group now turn their immediate attention to the nation's capital as they look to upset the OUA-best Ottawa Gee Gees next Friday.

Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m.
