OTTAWA - The TMU Bold men's basketball team fell 69-52 to the No. 1 nationally ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday night at Montpetit Hall.
The offensive output was the lowest of the season for the Bold, who struggled from both the three point line (18.8%) and the charity stripe (33.3%) on the night.
The opening quarter was a defensive battle as the teams tried to feel each other out. The Bold held a slim 14-13 advantage after the first stanza.
In the second, Ottawa pulled away with a strong 29 point quarter. Meanwhile, the Bold couldn't match the Gee-Gees output and found themselves down 13 at the half.
The deficit grew in the third quarter due to TMU's inability to convert at the offensive end. The Bold managed just nine points in the quarter, while the Gee-Gees continued to score.Â
TMU's bench players did most of the heavy lifting in the fourth, outscoring Ottawa 14-11 in the final frame but it was too little, too late, as the Bold fell by 17 points.
Cameron Ramage was the bright spot for the Bold, picking up a team-high 14 points.
The Ottawa road trip continues for the Bold on Saturday night when they visit the Carleton Ravens for 8 p.m. tip off.
