WINDSOR, Ont. - The TMU Bold track and field team concluded their season this weekend at the OUA Championship.
The Bold were entered in nine different events at this year's championship across the track and jumping pits.
In the sprints,
Tafara Gwata had the top men's result with a 21st place finish in a time of 7.07 seconds, followed by
Zugs Hirse in 24th and
Seon Valentine in 26th place. On the women's side,
Meghan Koo placed 26th with a time of 8.37 seconds, followed by
Ella Di Mola in 27th place.
Koo also ran in the 60m hurdles, finishing 14th with a time of 9.64 seconds.
In the 300m,
Aaron Kelly ran to a 15th best time of 36.22 seconds. In the women's event,
Lisa Franchett-Ngandu placed 25th with a time of 45.34 seconds, followed by
Christina Karaiskakis in 26th place.
In the pits,
Jacob Duck was the lone jumper for the Bold, turning in two strong performances. In the long jump, Duck set a school record with 6.44 metres to finish 15th. He then jumped 12.87 metres in the triple jump to place 12th.
Wrapping up the event, the Bold raced in the 4x200m relay event in both genders. The men ran to a ninth place finish with a time of 1:35.14 while the women came 11th with a time of 1:52.28
The Bold were unable to accumulate any points in the team standings, while the Western Mustangs swept the team titles.
