SUDBURY, Ont. – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball team concluded their first regular-season weekend with an impressive 73-50 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs.

Jayme Foreman put out another dominant performance, securing 21 points, 18 of which came in the first half. For the fourth-year guard, it was her second straight game scoring 20-plus points.
Callie Wright showed off her defensive and passing skills with two powerful blocks and four assists.
In the first quarter, the Bold and Voyageurs fought against each other for the lead. Bringing back her energy from the night before, Foreman was automatic from the three in the opening frame as she knocked down four shots from beyond the arc.Â
Hailey Franco-DeRyck claimed her position beneath the net, recording double-digit rebounds for the second-straight game as she finished with 10.
Pushing hard, the Bold found themselves with a slight lead after the first quarter, up by three points, 19-16.
Going into the second quarter, the Bold seemed to find their footing. With Foreman's terrific offensive performance and Wright's defensive control, TMU began to stretch their lead.
By the half, the Bold were up 44-28 against the Voyageurs.
In the third quarter, Laurentian put on the offensive pressure, outscoring the Bold by three points. Emilie Lafond of the Voyageurs took advantage of each of her shooting opportunities, trying to shrink the lead for the Bold.Â
Despite the push from their opponents, the Bold maintained their lead, finishing the third quarter up 56-43.
Beginning the fourth quarter,
Lauryn Meek brought the energy both offensively and defensively. She conducted a skillful play where she blocked the ball, rebounded it and finished with a layup in transition.Â
Key players,
Catrina Garvey, Kallie Hall and
Kait Nichols, put in significant minutes and produced strong performances. They each showcased their shooting skills, helping the Bold secure the 73-50 win.
The Bold will make their way back to Toronto and face off against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Friday Nov. 1 at the Goldring Centre. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. Catch all the action on OUA.tv.
