Hot-Shooting Bold Blow Past Laurentian

SUDBURY, Ont. – Shooting a blistering 54 percent from the field, the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team cruised to a 73-49 victory over the Laurentian
Voyageurs on Saturday night.

Aaron Rhooms, Kevin Toth and Greg Angelakos recorded 18, 14 and 11 points respectively for TMU. Toth also knocked down a game-high three 3-pointers and dished out five assists.

Holding a 19-12 lead after the first quarter, the Bold ramped up their effort on the defensive end in the second. They held Laurentian to just 19 percent from the field in the second quarter and outscored the Sudbury-based school, 21-9, to take a 40-20 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Bold not only continued to play lockdown defence but also caught fire offensively. TMU shot 83 percent from the field in the third quarter, led by Rhooms who scored eight points on 4-for-4 shooting.

The Bold will return to action on Friday, Nov. 1, against the Toronto Varsity Blues. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Goldring Centre and can be viewed on OUA.tv.
