Reslan nets a pair to earn Bold three points in Kingston

KINGSTON, Ont. - The Toronto Metropolitan University men's soccer team stood victorious against the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins. This was the team's second game of their doubleheader weekend in Kingston.

The squad currently sits in the No. 3 spot in the OUA East conference.

After a slow first half in Kingston, with two fouls on the Bold and one shot just high of the net, the Bold brought on senior Kai Martin

The Bold's Mauro Lulli opened up the score in the 32nd minute, right after the Paladins earned the first yellow card of the game.

Three RMC fouls and a Bold offside ended the first half of the game, with the Paladins being unable to even out the score on home turf.

Things got interesting in Kingston, after some tug-of-war continued. At this point, the Bold knew there was a change that needed to be made.

Midfielder Bilal Reslan made a 60th minute appearance on the field. An additional three substitutions made from the visitors was just enough to set the Bold up for success in the next few minutes.

In the 69th minute, Reslan found the back of the net, making this his first goal of the season. The score was 2-0 with the Bold leading.

Just one minute after his first, Reslan stunned the crowd, scoring a goal off a penalty kick. The penalty was awarded to the Bold after RMC's Patrick Marsalek was issued a yellow card.

Up 3-0 with 20 minutes left of the clock, the Bold were looking to keep up their lead. Defender Sam Rankin received a yellow card, followed by forward Josiah Lorray's shot on goal which was saved by the RMC goalkeeper. Lorray was issued a yellow card in the 85th minute.

The Paladins tried to do what they could to defend themselves, but fell short, having zero shots on goal.

The whistle blew in Kingston, ending the Bold's weekend away. The Blue and gold celebrated their three-points, with the final score coming to 3-0.

The team next heads to Peterborough, Ont. on Sept. 30, where they will take on the Trent Excalibur. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m.
