Bold utilize defence and teamwork to sweep Thunderwolves

THUNDER BAY, Ont. — Defense played a huge factor in the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold's 70-47 victory against the Lakehead Thunderwolves Saturday night. The second straight win concludes the team's sweep in their weekend doubleheader in Thunder Bay.

Despite an off-night shooting from deep for the Bold, with the team shooting only 12 per cent from the three, the team put on a defensive clinic, tallying 17 steals and scoring 31 points off turnovers throughout the game.

Offensively, the team switched up strategy early after multiple missed threes and scored more than half their 40 points in the first half by driving to the paint. The Bold dominated the court using teamwork to keep control of the ball and move it forward to the net.

TMU maintained their lead as the clock drained in the third and fourth quarters, ending the game with a 23-point lead.

Individually, Rachel Farwell produced on both ends. The forward put up 20 points, nine rebounds, three steals and four assists throughout the game.

The team will be back in Toronto, playing the York Lions at the Tait McKenzie Centre next Friday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
