Bold win fifth straight on heels of Farwell's 20 point night

TORONTO - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball team extended their win streak to five with a 72-62 victory over the York Lions on Friday night.

The Lions opened scoring, starting off the evening on a 10-2 run. TMU was quick to recover, however, tying it up within half of the first quarter and then taking the lead.

The second quarter saw York tie the score and keep a tight game against the Bold.

Eve Uwayesu was dialed in, producing 11 points in the first half by driving to the paint and keeping the ball moving down the court. By the end of the matchup, the point guard had 16 points, four assists and two steals.

Going into the third, the Bold were up by two. They managed to widen the score gap to nine points at one point in the quarter, and maintained the lead through to the end.

Rachel Farwell's production on the court was significant on both sides, putting up a game-high 20 points and tallying nine rebounds.

TMU held York to just 35.2% shooting from the floor, including just 8.3% from three point range.

The team will return to Mattamy Athletic Centre Saturday night to play the McMaster Marauders, with three games left to go in the regular season. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
