TORONTO - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team extended their winning streak over the York Lions to 23 games on Friday night, securing an 81-72 road victory.

After a turbulent opening quarter that saw the Bold and the Lions playing tug of war for the lead, TMU stepped up their game to dominate in the second. 

The team widened the scoring gap by double digits, keeping York's shooting at bay at 28.6 per cent from the field in the second and scoring seven points off turnovers.

At the half, Simon Chamberlain was leading the team with 11 points, four rebounds and one steal.

TMU stayed consistent throughout the third and fourth quarters. 

In the third, the Bold went on a 11-4 run. David Walker put up 18 points in the second half, finishing the night with 24 points. The Bold continued to lead in the fourth through to the buzzer, taking the 81-72 victory.

Team captain Aaron Rhooms notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds

The Bold will return home Saturday night to face the McMaster Marauders at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
