Bold wrap semester with electric win over Waterloo

WATERLOO, Ont. - The TMU Bold men's basketball team picked up their sixth victory to close the fall semester with a win over Waterloo on Saturday evening.

Both teams held similar records entering the contest, each with five wins under their belts, and tonight, both were hungry for the sixth win to end the semester.

The Bold picked up as many rebounds as possible in the first quarter, always keeping the Warriors on the edge. Playing defensively was the way to go today, ensuring the Warriors could not rebound on any shots.

Marsei Caston, who has been on roll in his last few games, put up a great effort and racked up nine points by halftime. So far this season he has set a career-high in points with 21 and continues to bring that to the court every game. Today, he beat that career-high and replaced it with a total of 24 points.

A Michael Kayembe three-pointer in the second quarter helped pad the Bold lead, but with only a few minutes left before halftime, the Warriors came back with some heat, tying up the score at 31-31.

Straight into the second half, Caston came back with a three-pointer, assisted by Lincoln Rosebush.

Rosebush was all over the stats sheet tonight as he led the Bold in assists with three and rebounds with ten. He also had the most blocks, totaling two.

The Bold wasted no time in the third quarter, making a fast break any chance they got, but as the game progressed, both teams were given free throws that helped keep a close score.

The blue and gold played their best in the third quarter, coming up with 23 points while the Warriors were limited to 11.

Heading into the final quarter, the Bold had a small lead and did what they could to keep it. The Warriors recorded a total of 29 turnovers while the Bold had 15 so it was important to play as responsibly as possible.

With only a few minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Bold caught fire and after gaining such a large lead, the Bold played strong and tactical, leaving the Warriors behind.

The Bold took their sixth win of the season and end their semester off on a high note.

Next semester they will prepare for their three-game road trip after the winter break, starting January 5 with a trip to play the Brock Badgers.
