Bold fall to Gee-Gees in shutout loss

OTTAWA - A commanding start powered the Ottawa Gee-Gees past the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's soccer team earlier this afternoon as TMU dropped their penultimate road game of the regular season by a 7-0 score.

Ottawa's Cassandra Provost led the attack to keep the undefeated season alive for the home side, scratching four goals past the Bold to extend her league-leading total to 20.

TMU's afternoon clash with the Gee-Gees followed almost an identical script to the last time these two sides faced off - which ended as a 5-1 victory for the Ottawa group and featured a trio of goals from Provost.

Last time out, the Bold trailed Ottawa by four goals heading into the halftime intermission and were unable to recover. That same clinical start followed the Gee-Gees around in today's game as well, with Ottawa blasting another four goals past TMU before the halftime whistle rang.

After being denied the opening tally from the penalty spot in the game's initial minutes, Provost found the back of the Bold goal a pair of times over the next thirty minutes to thrust Ottawa into the lead.

Allana Oriente and Sabrina Mangiaracina contributed goals of their own in the opening half as well, with the former picking out the bottom left corner of TMU's net all the way out from the parallel corner flag.

The Gee-Gees wrapped up their dominant first half with a 4-0 lead, adding three more tallies before the game's final whistle to secure their second win over the Bold this season and eighth overall.

TMU will look to turn the page tomorrow when they face off against the Carleton Ravens. Kickoff from the nation's capital is set for 1:00.
