Late life lift Bold over Ridgebacks for first win of the season

OSHAWA, Ont. - TMU would leave things until the last minute, but Ivymae Perez was able to seal the deal. Earning a penalty shot in the final minute of regulation, the third-year forward coolly belted the ball into the top left corner to do all but secure the victory for the Bold.

It was a lowly eventful affair throughout the Bold's first road game of the season however, with both squads slowly working to establish any sort of offensive footing.

The home sided Ridgebacks squandered the match's initial golden opportunity midway through the first half with a strike from just outside the box being clobbered down by Abby Harrison

The sophomore goalkeeper for the Bold would play a leading role in keeping Ontario Tech off the board, making saves from all edges of the crease as the game inched on. Opposing goalkeeper Alicia Chisholm was busy making saves of her own, combining with Harrison to keep this game a scoreless tie heading into the half.

Coming out of the locker room, the Ridgebacks began to dictate the pace of play and began inching closer to the game's opening goal.

Teammates Brogyn Tracy and Tara Sisic have driven the offence for the home side all throughout this premature season and in many moments, found themselves close to adding on to their combined four total regular season goals.

Tracy would be the closest to extending forth her goal total with a strike that would trickle just wide from outside the box.

The two sides would continue to trade chances as the game grew with intensity. The intensity would boil over however in the final moments of the match and hand the Bold a pivotal penalty shot, a chance that they would not require a second invitation for.

There are players that will get you there, and ones that will get you through. Through the Bold's first two games of the young OUA season, Ivy Perez looks to be the outlier in defying both of these traits.

With their first win of the regular season now in the books, the Bold look to build on their victory this upcoming Sunday against the Trent Excalibur at Downsview Park. Kickoff is set for 1:00.
