Dance Pak audition information

TORONTO - The TMU DancePak is pleased to announce the following details for their 2022-23 audition.

Registration: August 29 - September 16th, 2022 via google form
Date: Sunday, September 18, 2019
Time: Audition time slots will be sent to dancers who complete the online registration form during the registration period. Time slots will be anywhere between 11 am and 6 pm.
Where: RAC Studio 1, 50 Gould St

The tryout will consist of across the floor technique (jumps, turns, kicks, etc.), and a jazz/hip hop combo which will be taught and performed in groups. Dancers will be notified by email within 72 hours whether or not they are invited to the callback. Callbacks will be held Sunday, September 25th at 1:00 p.m. in RAC Studio 1 and will consist of a warmup and stretch, advanced across the floor technique, and a contemporary combo.

Please dress for a jazz class. The floor can be slippery so please consider bringing footwear other than socks. Soles must be non-marking if worn.

Previous technical training is required. The team is looking for dancers with great technique, excellent performance quality, a positive attitude, and a superior work ethic.

The team is open to all current TMU students from any program.

ABOUT THE TEAM

As the official dance team of Toronto Metropolitan University, Dance Pak strives to encourage school spirit, entertain fans, and represent TMU at the top level in Canadian collegiate competitive dance.

The team is composed of experienced dancers from all programs of study, who want to continue performing and competing at an advanced level. The Dance Pak focuses mainly on contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical, but if there are enough team members with strengths in other styles (ie: tap, acro) then those styles may be incorporated. Team members perform and appear at TMU home basketball, volleyball, and hockey games as well as competing in three university/college dance competitions each year.

The Dance Pak practices 2-3 times a week: Sunday afternoons and 1-2 week nights. Which weeknight (Tuesday or Thursday) will be finalized in September. Further information about the team and audition can be found by emailing dancepak@ryerson.ca
