Men's soccer welcomes Serhii Khoma to the 2022 team

TORONTO - Toronto Metropolitan University's men's soccer team welcomes Ottawa native Serhii Khoma as the newest men's player to join the 2022-23 recruiting class.

Khoma plays midfielder, winger and wing-back positions on the pitch, finishing this past season with Ottawa South United in the Première ligue de soccer du Québec.

"We are all very excited to have Serhii join our program and feel he will fit into our culture seamlessly. We hope that Serhii can come in and use all his on field abilities to help our team succeed from day one," head coach Filip Prostran says.

Previously, he played for Ottawa TFC Soccer Club, where he fulfilled one of the team captain roles, Winnipeg South End United Soccer Club and FC Hirnyk-Sport Horishni Plavni in Ukraine. Khoma says that one of the athletic career highlights was winning a regional tournament with FC Hirnyk in 2017.

The player describes himself as a passionate, motivated, and disciplined athlete.

"Serhii's dedication, composure and technical ability were all things that drew us to him during the recruiting process," Prostran says.

In turn, Khoma says he chose TMU for its "amazing" soccer program, as well as the school's business school (Ted Rogers School of Management), where he will be studying business technology management in the fall.

"I also chose TMU because I really like the way it supports and treats its athletes, and its location is amazing, right in the heart of Toronto's downtown," Khoma says.
